Credit Cleaner Near Me

I’m looking for a legit credit cleaner/credit repair service near me here in the U.S. I’ve got a few old account a couple of collections, and some late payments that I’d like to get cleaned up just trying to improve my score before applying for a car loan later this year. I’ve heard mixed things about credit repair companies. Some people say you can just do it all yourself (dispute letters, goodwill requests, etc.), while others swear by working with pros who know how to handle the bureaus and get faster results. So I figured I’d ask here has anyone used a credit repair company that actually helped?

Yeah i used Lexington Law a while back. They were decent but kinda pricey IMO. They did help remove two collections, but it took several months. Honestly once i learned how to write dispute letters myself, I just DIY’d the rest. If you're patient, doing it yourself works just fine.

I’m in the same boat prepping for a car loan and used Credit Saint. Pricey, yeah but they actually got 5 things deleted in 60 days. Feels like cheating but legal. Just make sure to cancel once you’re satisfied those monthly fees creep up quick.

NGL most of them are just doing what you can do: pulling your credit report, firing off dispute letters, and crossing fingers. You're better off using Credit Karma for monitoring and following a Reddit DIY guide. Save yourself the $100+/mo.

I worked with a local credit repair consultant (based in Atlanta). She helped me understand how to build positive credit history, not just clean up the bad. That was a game-changer. So if you’re set on hiring someone, look for someone who educates too not just deletes.

Funny how half these credit repair pros don’t even have good credit themselves. i tried one. They just disputed everything even legit stuff. Now my score is stuck and Experian flagged my account for excessive disputes. So… be careful who you trust.

Actually had great luck with Sky Blue Credit. They were transparent and didn’t overpromise. Got a repo and two lates removed. Took like 4 months, but they only charged $79/mo and didn’t nickel-and-dime me. Best part? No BS upsells.

Do NOT pay anyone until you understand what they’re doing for you. I’ve seen people get locked into $1,000+ plans when all it took was a goodwill letter to the creditor. Read the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Knowledge = power.

DIY isn't for everyone. I tried writing dispute letters but i didn’t have time to keep track of follow-ups. Ended up going with a guy my cousin recommended. He cleaned up a few collections fast, but yeah, definitely ask for receipts and timelines upfront.

Used The Credit Pros. Meh. The dashboard looked cool but progress was slow. Also, their customer service ghosted me after the third month. I’d stick to DIY unless you have complex stuff like bankruptcies or ID theft issues.

even if you get stuff removed, that doesn’t mean your credit magically goes up. You need positive history..secured cards, low utilization, on-time payments. The clean slate only works if you build after.

I know people like the idea of someone else fixing their mess but honestly? I went on YouTube, copied dispute templates, and mailed them certified. Took effort, yeah but i got 4 negatives off in 90 days and saved hundreds.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. I had one expert claim they’d get everything off in 30 days. They just took my info, sent generic letters, and dipped. Had to file a complaint with the BBB to get a refund.

goodwill letters actually work sometimes. I sent one to Capital One after a 30-day late. Said i’d been a loyal customer for years and hit a rough patch. They removed it. FREE. No service needed.

Had a positive experience with Ovation Credit (they’re part of LendingTree now). They’re low-pressure and explained what they could and couldn’t do. Didn’t make any wild promises like 800 credit score in 90 days. Respect.

Yo shoutout to Credit Cleanse by Safeport Law. Legal-backed credit repair with actual attorneys involved. Bit more expensive than the regulars but they helped me when I had a charge-off and collections hurting my mortgage app.

I used to think credit repair was a scam until I watched someone clean up my partner’s 540 score to 690 in a year. They followed a legit plan: dispute, negotiate pay-for-delete, open secured cards. Took time but 100% real.

No hate to the DIYers but for people who are overwhelmed or stressed about all this, hiring help isn’t stupid. Some of us just want someone to take care of it. Just vet the company and set realistic expectations.
