Choice Credit Score Cancel Membership Confusion

I signed up recently to check my credit info through choice credit score looked pretty standard and offered a free trial so I went with it. The signup said it was free for 7 days, then $29.95/month I think unless I canceled before the trial ended.

I tried to cancel the membership just a day or two after signing up because I didn’t want to forget and get charged. But now I’m not entirely sure if the cancellation actually went through. The confirmation was vague and I’m still able to log into my account like nothing happened. I didn’t get an email either confirming the cancellation which is what’s making me nervous.

Has anyone else dealt with canceling choice credit score before? Did your cancellation go through right away or did you have to jump through hoops? I just want to make sure I’m not about to get charged for something I don’t want. Any advice would be appreciated.

Same exact thing happened to me! I canceled on day 3 but never got a confirmation email. Ended up getting charged anyway. Had to call their support, and they tried to convince me to stay with exclusive credit monitoring tools. Finally canceled after 30 minutes of back-and-forth. Watch your statement!

I used Choice Credit Score last year. Cancellation did not go through the first time for me either. I had to call and email them, and only the second email triggered a real confirmation. Definitely keep an eye on your bank charges..... they got me for two months before i noticed.

Is this one of those shady Experian clones? Because that $29.95 after a free trial is classic bait-and-switch. If you're still able to log in like normal, I doubt the cancellation processed. I'd suggest using a virtual card next time so they can’t charge you even if they try.

You sure it wasn’t just a paused account? Some of these services keep you active for the trial even if you hit cancel, and then don’t actually process the cancellation until day 7. I’d recommend contacting them via chat AND email and screenshotting both.

Bro I swear these free trials are just modern-day scams. I canceled within 48 hours and they STILL charged me a week later. No email, no confirmation, nothing. I had to threaten them with a BBB complaint to get a refund.

FWIW, I had a smooth cancellation but i called them immediately after signing up to cancel. They told me i’d still have access for the 7 days but i wouldn’t be charged. Got a confirmation # too. Maybe call them to double-check?

Yeah, being able to log in doesn't mean much. Some sites just let you view your old data even if your billing is inactive. But no confirmation email? That's sus. I’d reach out to support ASAP ... better safe than sorry.

Can confirm, you have to call them to be 100% sure. Their system doesn’t always register cancellations through the site. Took me 15 minutes on hold but worth it to avoid the charge.

I always use Privacy.com virtual cards for stuff like this. I literally set a $1 limit and let them try and charge me. No charge goes through, and I never stress. Highly recommend if you’re trial-hopping like me.

Honestly, it’s messed up how vague some of these confirmations are. You should always get an email. I’d say reach out to them now before that trial ends. If you explain clearly you intended to cancel, they may refund if they charge you.

Ugh yes. I did cancel but then got charged twice anyway (go figure). Took 3 emails, 1 phone call, and a Venmo bribe to Satan to get my money back. JK on the last part. But seriously, harass their customer support if needed.

Hey, you're still in the trial window right? Just call now and document everything. Screenshot the dashboard, the cancellation page, and record the call if possible. CYA before that charge hits.

These credit score trial services are straight outta the how to be shady in 3 steps playbook. Sign up, don’t send email confirmations, charge anyway, make canceling hard. I never trust ones that don’t offer instant cancel confirmation.

Just FYI .....some services DO allow logins after canceling. It doesn't necessarily mean you’ll be charged. But yeah, the no-email thing is the red flag. Call them ASAP just to be safe.

Call them and ask for a confirmation number or written statement. If they hesitate, then you know something’s up. I had to call twice to fully cancel because they lost my first request.

Did you check your spam folder for the confirmation email? Mine ended up there. Also worth checking your billing page to see if a next billing date is listed...... if it’s blank, you’re probably good.

Dude, I did the exact same thing like 2 weeks ago! Canceled on day 2, no email, could still log in. I panicked, called support, they said I was marked as canceled but would still have access till the 7th day. No charge hit me though, so fingers crossed it stays that way.

This happened to my sister. She ended up using their contact form AND calling before they finally canceled it. Some companies intentionally make canceling complicated so they can bill you one extra time.
