Credit Repair Lubbock

I’ve lived in Lubbock my whole life, and honestly, I never gave credit much thought until I really needed it. I recently tried to finance a car and got slapped with a 24% interest rate because of my credit score. That was a huge wake-up call.

After that, I pulled my credit report and... it’s rough. There are late payments, charge-offs, and even one account I’m pretty sure isn’t even mine. I’ve tried to work on it myself, but I’m feeling totally overwhelmed and not getting anywhere.

Has anyone in Lubbock worked with a credit repair company that actually helped improve your score? I’m open to any local recommendations or advice. Just trying to figure out my next move.

feel you on the 24% APR. Been there, did that, and cried about it later. I worked with Credit RX here in Lubbock, and they helped me bump my score from 540 to 670 in about 5 months. Not magic, but they did walk me through disputing a bunch of stuff I couldn’t handle myself.
If nothing else, it was good to have someone who knew what they were doing.

Same situation, different year. My credit was trashed after college.....late payments, collections, even an old Sprint account that was totally bogus. I ended up going the self-repair route using Reddit advice + the myFICO forums. It’s slow but free.
Start with certified mail disputes and opt-out of pre-screened offers. Baby steps add up.

Dang, 24%? That’s like loan shark territory. No shame though, Lubbock banks don’t play nice. I used Bluewater Credit—they’re not local but do national work. They weren’t cheap, but they got a judgment removed that was dragging my score into the dumpster.
Still salty about paying for help, but sometimes you gotta pay to play.

Check out Bulldog Credit Repair! They’re based out of Amarillo but work with a lot of people in West Texas. My buddy used them after his divorce messed up his credit big time.
They were upfront, not pushy, and helped with dispute letters and validation stuff. Worth a call at least.

First off massive props for actually pulling your credit report and taking this seriously. A lot of folks don’t even get that far. Second, those accounts that aren’t yours? You can file a dispute with the bureaus and demand verification.
Even just freezing your reports can stop some nonsense while you figure it out.

Lubbock native here. I tried Lexington Law for 6 months. Honestly? Meh. They sent some dispute letters, but it was stuff I could’ve Googled.
Eventually switched to DIY using Credit Karma to track things and templates from Reddit. Not as overwhelming once you take it slow.

That’s my exact experience with Lexington too. It’s like paying someone to Google for you
OP, check out the Credit Pros. They’re not local but have decent reviews and a live dashboard. They helped get two old charge-offs removed for me.

Not in Lubbock anymore but grew up there. My mom used a local company called West Texas Credit Solutions back in 2021. They helped fix her score before she bought a house.
If they’re still around, I’d give ’em a ring. Small team but they knew their stuff and weren’t scammy.

If there’s an account on your report that you don’t recognize, send a debt validation letter before you dispute it. If the collector can’t prove it’s yours, they gotta remove it.
I used this method to nuke 3 collections from my report. Costs like $10 for certified mail, tops.

Dude same! My APR was 26% on a used Nissan . What helped me was getting a Self credit builder loan. I set it to $25/month and after a year it added 100 points to my score
Not local, but super easy to set up and doesn’t require a hard pull

Not to be that guy, but… be careful with some of these "repair" places. Some just send cookie-cutter dispute letters and charge you forever. Look into nonprofit credit counseling through NFCC.
They helped me make a debt management plan for free. Way more legit than the shady strip mall guys.

I’ve used Credit Saint and saw my score go from 512 to 678 over a year. It wasn’t overnight but I stuck with it. I’d get texts when they removed stuff like real-time wins lol.
If you do it be patient and track changes monthly. Don't expect miracles in 30 days.

Honestly, the best repair method is just brutal honesty and discipline. I stopped using credit cards altogether, paid off two collections in full, and started using a secured Discover card.
No shortcuts, but after 18 months I finally hit 700.

not sure if you’ve heard of Upturn Credit, but it’s an app that monitors your score, helps you understand what’s tanking it, and offers dispute options. It’s like Credit Karma but with actual tools.
Might be a good place to start before shelling out money.

Anyone tried Sky Blue Credit? I’m considering them. $79/month and they say they send out multiple disputes per cycle.
Reviews online seem mixed, but curious if anyone in Lubbock had direct experience.

I work in auto sales in Lubbock. You wouldn’t believe how many people come in with 500s and are shocked at the APR. I always recommend they pause and fix their credit first instead of signing their life away.
There’s a local guy named Marcus over at Credit Rehab TX. Heard good things.

That’s awesome progress. Did you do anything else besides Credit Saint? Like secured cards or credit builder loans? I’m debating which route to go
Feels like trying to juggle flaming swords sometimes lol.

Big agree on the co-signing. My sister wrecked my score when I cosigned her apartment. Took me 2 years to undo it
Lesson learned: protect your credit like your Netflix password.
