Credit repair works best when YOU do your homework. Services can help, sure but don’t expect miracles unless you understand your own report. Know what a 609 letter is. Know what’s accurate and what’s not.
Used Lexington Law for 8 months. They're not local but worked remotely just fine. Results were slow but i did go from 512 to 644. Be patient it’s not instant coffee.
I feel you. I was 6 points away from the requirement and panicked. What helped me the most? Getting my credit utilization down. Paid off 2 cards to under 10% and my score jumped in 48 hours. No shady services needed!
Thanks for sharing all this. Reading your post made me feel less alone..i'm in school for nursing right now and juggling way too much. I’ve been scared to apply for food stamps but i think i’ll go for it now. Appreciate the update!
I run a credit repair biz in Orlando. Here’s my advice: skip franchises unless you like sharing revenue for things you can learn yourself. Consider Client Dispute Manager Software...it's got built-in compliance tools and dispute templates.
I got burned by a different Florida based repair service last year so i feel your caution. If Seminole is local to you try visiting their office. That always gives me more peace of mind.
If you’ve got student loans in default, check if you’re eligible for Fresh Start through the Dept of Ed before going to a credit repair company. That helped boost my score by 60 points alone.
DIY all the way. Dispute inaccuracies, pay down your highest utilization cards first, and keep making minimum payments on time. Credit repair companies aren’t magic..they use the same dispute letters you can Google.
set up text alerts for your card. I almost missed a payment once because i thought I’d already done it. Automation helps a ton when you’re swamped with classes and stress.
Posts that talked about the emotional side of bad credit helped me most. I felt ashamed and seeing others share the same experience made me stick with it. More vulnerability less shame. We need that
You might want to check with your local credit union too. Some offer credit coaching as part of membership perks. They’re usually way more ethical than big credit repair shops.
You're not alone. When i was drowning in debt, I almost gave my info to a credit sweep guy on IG. The sense of panic makes us vulnerable. No judgment here just take steps now to protect your identity. Start with a credit freeze.
They helped me remove an eviction from my report which i didn’t think was even possible. That alone was worth it. But communication was super slow. Felt like they were overwhelmed or short staffed.
The pay was fine for entry level more than some local gigs i’ve done. Just be prepared for repetitive work. Like disputes all day every day. If you’re not into repetition it’s probably not for you. But if you're organized and like lists? It’s a groove.
FICO 8 and VantageScore can react differently to closures. VantageScore might ding you harder in the short term but FICO is more forgiving over time. Depends who’s checking.
Honestly the contactless thing is cool, but what I really want is metal cards. Like if I’m gonna flex i want it to make a clang when it hits the counter
Yes they got some stuff removed, but also sent a bunch of disputes to all 3 bureaus at once without telling me. That can actually trigger verification flags. Be careful if you're trying to apply for credit soon.
Did Omega help with student loan lates? That’s what’s killing my report right now. I got laid off during COVID and missed 3 payments. Been back on track since but it’s still haunting me.
Used the Self app and opened a secured Discover. Didn’t bother with third parties. I figured if the bureaus are slow... i might as well give them something good to report while waiting.
