Been using PayPal Pay Monthly for about 9 months. All payments on time, and yep my Experian report shows it. Funny enough i saw a small bump in my FICO score after 6 months. It's helped my credit age too.
Just don’t miss a payment. That’ll tank things fast.
My turning point was actually getting denied for a rental. That rejection hit hard. I promised myself I’d never be in that position again. Credit isn’t just numbers....it’s access. That mindset shift made a huge difference.
It's about long-term profit. If a 19-year-old starts using their card, the bank gets decades of potential interest, fees, and data. They’re playing the long game, and young folks are a golden investment.
I worked with three different credit pros and all they did was send disputes I could’ve done myself. I’m convinced most of these companies are just printing dispute templates.
Used them after a divorce wrecked my credit. I had 7 negative items, they got 5 removed in 6 months. Expensive but honestly saved me so much stress. Would recommend if you’re overwhelmed like I was.
I didn’t use them but scheduled a consultation. The rep was nice but super salesy...kept pushing the limited time discount. That rubbed me the wrong way. If a service is solid it sells itself. I passed.
our best bet is to get the official dismissal paperwork from the court and highlight that the bankruptcy was never completed. Make sure your dispute letter includes this and explain why it’s misleading or outdated to report it. Keep it short and neutral in tone.
I appreciated that they didn’t try to sell me credit cards or loans like other companies. It was purely about credit repair which felt more trustworthy. Just wish they were faster.
Honestly i think these credit repair places just recycle the same dispute letters and hope something sticks. I paid for 4 months and only saw a 20-point increase. Could’ve done that myself with free online templates.
Same exact thing happened to me. Support acted like I was the only one. Would be nice if they just admitted there’s a system wide issue and fixed it fast.
Honestly the bureaus only care when someone yells loud enough. 609 is like knocking on the door politely. If they don’t answer break out the megaphone: CFPB, AG, even Better Business Bureau sometimes works.
For those curious, charge-offs and collections from timeshare companies hit your credit just like credit cards do. It’s not vacation debt .......the bureaus treat it seriously. Try disputing the entries yourself first before shelling out to a third party service.
Can confirm they’re real but not miracle workers. I had one repo they couldn’t get off my report despite trying for weeks. They were polite and didn’t promise anything they couldn’t do which i respected. Just… temper expectations.
If your credit took a hit from medical bills, check if those were reported after the recent FICO changes. A lot of medical debt under $500 is supposed to be removed. You might not even need a service
Bro i was in the same boat. Missed car payments, two charge-offs... a mess. I used Valley Credit Repair and they actually got a bunch of stuff deleted. Took like 6 months and cost me some $$ but it was worth it just to stop getting collection letters.
I tried one through IG DMs...big mistake. Charged me $150 to send basic dispute letters i could’ve printed off myself. Never saw a change. Dispute on your own with the bureaus it’s free and way safer.
You might also check out local food pantries near your school.....some have student-specific programs. That could help stretch SNAP a little further. And nope, none of that stuff affects credit reports at all.
I don’t mean to rain on your parade, but the credit repair industry has a LOT of scams. You’ll want to be super transparent and ethical if you go this route. Personally i’d skip franchising......too many of them just sell you overpriced branding.
I used them after a divorce wrecked my credit. They handled it with empathy, didn’t upsell me and explained stuff like i wasn’t a child. Got 2 collections removed took about 3 months.
