Hi Delaware peeps. In case you’re thinking of hiring credit repair services to fix your score, this is your sign to not do so. Because you can do it yourself and with much ease.
I had a medical bill I didn't recognize on my Delaware credit report. I immediately knew it was an incorrect listing and decided to dispute it myself instead of hiring an attorney or credit repair services.
I reviewed the bill details and contacted the medical provider listed to explain that I have no recollection of the service. I requested verification of the debt and any associated medical records.
Luckily, they confirmed it was a mistake. I filed a dispute directly with the credit bureau reporting the error (Equifax in this case). I did this online and included a copy of the explanation from the provider. The credit bureau got back to me in less than 30 days and I was able to get the listing removed. Simple process, and saved money.
