I recently had to handle a debt they were trying to collect, and I wanted to share what worked for me in case it helps someone else:
asked for validation – always request proof before agreeing to anything. they actually sent me documentation confirming the debt was legit
negotiated a settlement – they were willing to reduce the amount. I ended up settling for about 50% of what they originally asked for
got everything in writing – before making any payment i made sure they sent me a written settlement agreement to avoid any issues later
It wasn’t the worst experience but definitely not fun either.
