Any Credit Repair Companies Los Angeles?

I'm 26 and feel like it's well past time to start repairing my credit. I have a few collections I'd like to settle nothing too serious, mostly things like old phone bills, cable accounts, and a high school diploma program. I'm planning to request pay-to-delete agreements (in writing, of course), but I’d prefer to work with a professional if possible. Does anyone have recommendations for reputable credit repair services or professionals who can help with this?

I definitely recommend Lexington Law. They’re a national service, but what sets them apart is that they have actual lawyers on staff. They helped me remove 7 negative items from my credit in just 6 months. Not the cheapest option but worth it in my experience

California has some of the strictest laws when it comes to what credit repair companies are allowed to do. If you're considering hiring one, make sure they're properly bonded and registered. You can check their status through the Consumer Affairs database.

Forget hiring someone i fixed my credit myself. I sent dispute letters negotiated pay-to-delete agreements and used Experian Boost. It took about a year, but I raised my score from 520 to 710. Totally doable if you’re consistent.

I’m not based in LA, but I had a good experience with Credit Glory. They helped remove old Sprint and Comcast accounts from my report. Just be mindful of the monthly fees they can add up.

If most of your collections are old phone and cable bills you might be able to settle directly with the agencies. A lot of them are surprisingly reasonable if you're honest and straightforward about your situation.

If the debt is over 4 years old and you're in California, you might not be legally required to pay it. Be sure to check the statute of limitations before making any payments.

I can definitely confirm they came through for me. I just got approved for a lease in West Hollywood after working with them.

The whole process took about 5 months, but it paid off in the end. They were consistent, helpful, and really guided me through rebuilding my credit step by step. If you’re patient and stay on top of things it’s absolutely worth it.

The MyFICO forums were honestly a game-changer for me way more helpful than any credit repair company I tried. The community is incredibly knowledgeable, and there are tons of proven strategies, tips, and templates for things like pay-for-delete and goodwill letters.

Best part? It’s all free. If you’re serious about improving your credit, that forum is a goldmine. I learned more there than I ever did from paid services.

I used to work at a credit repair company for a short time, and honestly, most of what we did was guide people to fix their credit themselves while charging $99 a month for what was basically a motivational pep talk. Take that info however you like.

Man, I once paid a guy at a barbershop in cash to “fix my credit,” and now I’m getting letters from the IRS. So yeah… probably not the best route to take

That debt from the diploma program might not even be legit some of those schools turned out to be total scams and were eventually shut down or lost accreditation. It’s definitely worth doing a little digging before you pay anything.

In some cases, those types of debts can be disputed or even forgiven, especially if the school was part of a federal investigation or class action lawsuit. Check to see if it's on your credit report accurately and whether it's tied to a known predatory institution. You might not have to pay it at all.

Pay-to-delete can be a really effective approach just make sure you get everything in writing. Collection agents can be notoriously dishonest, kind of like a toddler denying they ate the cookies with crumbs all over their face.

Maybe I’m just cautious but I won’t hand over my SSN to anyone unless they’re licensed and personally recommended by someone I trust.

Isn’t it true that a lot of so-called “credit repair” companies are basically borderline scams? Many of them just file blanket disputes even on accurate information hoping the creditors or bureaus won’t respond in time. It’s not exactly illegal but it’s definitely shady. And if it backfires, it could actually make your credit situation worse.

Honestly, it feels like a lot of these companies charge big money for things you could technically do yourself for free, if you’re willing to put in the time.

If you're in California, check out the Credit Services Act. It clearly states that any company charging fees before delivering results is breaking the law. A legit service should only charge after they’ve done the work. No results, no payment that’s the legal standard

It’s not a credit repair service, but you might want to check out Andre from The Credit Game on YouTube. Yeah, some of his videos can be a bit over-the-top or cringe at times but honestly there’s a lot of useful information in there if you can get past the delivery

He breaks down credit-building strategies, explains how different scoring models work, and even talks about lesser-known methods to boost your score. Worth a watch if you're serious about learning the game from a DIY perspective

I worked with LA Credit Repair based in Sherman Oaks, and while they were a bit on the pricey side, I was really impressed with their service. They were super responsive throughout the whole process always quick to answer my questions and keep me updated.

Within just three months, they managed to get a few collection accounts removed from my credit report. If you're looking for a local option and don't mind spending a bit more for personalized support they might be worth considering.

Been there. I used The Credit Pros a few years back. A bit pricey, but they helped me clear 4 collections in 6 months. Also taught me about credit utilization. Worth it if you're busy or overwhelmed.

I had great success with a small firm called Westside Credit Repair based out of Culver City. No BS, just straight talk. They helped me get a $200 Verizon account deleted.
