Credit Repair Services in Birmingham, AL

Currently living in Birmingham, Alabama, and I’m looking into credit repair services to help clean up my credit profile. I’ve had some bumps along the way missed payments, a couple of collections and I’m finally in a place where I want to fix things for good. I've been considering both local and online companies, but I’d really prefer to go with someone nearby that I can actually sit down and talk to.

Has anyone here used a credit repair service in Birmingham or surrounding areas that they’d recommend (or advise staying away from)?

Some specific things I’m wondering:
  • Are there legit, trustworthy companies locally that have actually helped you improve your credit score?
  • What kind of fees did they charge, and was it worth it?
  • Did they help with removing collections, negotiating pay-for-deletes, or disputing errors?
  • How long did the process take to see noticeable changes?

I worked with Birmingham Credit Fixers they’re near Five Points and they actually helped me boost my score by about 90 points over 6 months. They charged $99/month and were upfront about what they could and couldn't do. They got two collections removed and helped me dispute some late payments. Worth it if you’re committed.

Stay far, far away from Credit RX Solutions on 280. All talk zero results. They promised deletion in 30 days and then ghosted me after i paid. Took 3 months just to cancel. Ended up doing most of it myself with Credit Karma and goodwill letters.

Not in Bham exactly but i used Sky Blue Credit Repair online. It was fine...not a miracle, but they got me organized and helped dispute old Verizon stuff. If you're set on face to face maybe try a local credit union’s financial counseling?

I went through Serenity Credit Consultants they're Black owned and based right here in Birmingham. They were amazing. We did Zoom calls at first, then met in person later. They explained stuff in simple terms and didn’t charge crazy fees. I paid around $350 total over several months.

Check out Operation hope! They have a branch downtown and offer free credit repair counseling. No strings attached. They helped my cousin draft dispute letters and figure out a budget. Just don’t expect overnight results...it’s a grind.

Honestly just fixing your credit yourself is underrated. I sent out dispute letters (used templates from Reddit), negotiated a pay-for-delete with a medical collection and raised my score 100+ points over a year. Cost me postage stamps.

Had a great experience with Rising Hope Financial. They’re more like credit coaches than a fix it service. They’ll hold your hand through the whole process. $75 a session but i only needed 3. They even helped me settle an old utility bill for 30% of what i owed.

My credit was a dumpster fire. Used Credit Saint and saw slow progress. One collection came off but the rest stuck. They’re super persistent with disputes though. Took about 5 months to see anything meaningful.

Girl I know used Premier Solutions off Lakeshore Parkway. She swears by them. Said they helped her get a secured card and budget like a pro. Just make sure they’re not pushing tradelines or shady CPN stuff......some do that around here

I’d be careful with any place that promises the world. No one can guarantee”deletions unless it’s illegal. Read the contract. Most charge monthly so they benefit from dragging it out. I say go in with clear goals and a timeline u set.

YES used Precision Credit Repair as they’re a small firm in Homewood. Owner is a former banker, knows his stuff. Fee was $79/mo. Got 2 charge-offs removed and taught me how to maintain the score. Took 7 months but totally worth it.

Everyone talks about credit repair like it’s magic. Truth is they do the same things you can do: disputes, pay-for-deletes, goodwill letters. The value is in accountability. If you're too busy or overwhelmed hiring help is fair. Otherwise DIY it.

I filed Chapter 7 two years ago and started from scratch. Used a local lady named Monica James Credit Help. She's not fancy just a real human who teaches credit repair. Helped me get a secured card and rebuild. No monthly fees just $200 upfront.

avoid any place that says we’ll erase your bad credit history. That’s sketchy AF. The legit ones will say it takes time and u still have to pay your current bills on time. There’s no shortcut but there is guidance.

My dad worked with GreenPath Financial Wellness. They partnered with his job for free sessions. They helped him set up a debt snowball plan and even consolidated his old credit card debt into a better rate. Not technically credit repair but it worked.

I needed a fresh start after divorce and went to Restore Financial Group. They were kind, patient, and helped me understand my rights. They got 3 negative items deleted and coached me on building new credit. Took about 6 months total.

Honestly read up on the Fair Credit Reporting Act. That’s what most “credit repair” services rely on. If you understand your rights you can do 90% of what they do for free. That said some people need guidance and that’s okay.

Used Credit Glory as they’re not local but responsive over phone and email. Not a miracle worker but they helped me clean up medical debts and get my score from 540 to 660 in 8 months. Still a work in progress.
