Credit Repair Services in Montgomery, AL

I’m based in Montgomery, Alabama and currently looking for a reputable credit repair service to help me clean up my credit report and boost my score. There are so many options out there—both local and online—and I’m hoping to find a company or specialist that’s trustworthy, transparent, and actually gets results.

Has anyone here had experience with a credit repair company in Montgomery or nearby?
Some questions I have:
  • Which companies or professionals would you recommend (or avoid)?
  • Did you see real improvements in your credit score?
  • How long did the process take?
  • Were the fees fair and clearly explained?

I haven’t worked with any local credit repair companies in Montgomery, but I did try Lexington Law online. They’re a bit pricey but in my experience, they were legit I saw about a 50-point increase in my credit score over four months

Credit repair services for the most part, handle tasks you can manage on your own like disputing errors on your credit report. You can file these disputes directly with the credit bureaus for free, without needing to pay a third party.

I’d steer clear of any company that guarantees a “score boost” or claims they can wipe out all negative items from your credit report. Promises like that are major red flags and often too good to be true

Be cautious when it comes to fees—some companies charge hundreds of dollars each month with unclear or confusing terms. Always make sure to ask for a detailed written contract so you know exactly what you’re agreeing to

The timeline is important to consider real credit repair usually takes a minimum of 3 to 6 months. If someone promises instant results, it’s probably not legitimate

Have you looked into working with a nonprofit credit counseling agency? While they won’t clean up your credit report they can provide valuable help with debt management and budgeting strategies

If your credit problems are due to identity theft or reporting mistakes, credit repair companies might be more useful than if the issues are simply from missed payments

Check out Fresh Start Credit Solutions on Zelda Rd. Used them after a nasty divorce tanked my credit. Took about 5 months but my score jumped 82 points. They explained everything upfront and didn’t overpromise.

Tbh most credit repair services are snake oil. What they do, u can do yourself for free. Disputing inaccurate items isn't rocket science. Just takes time and persistence.

Been there. Single mom here. I used Lexington Law (online, not local), and while it wasn’t magic, it helped. My score went from 543 to 670 over 8 months. Expensive tho $99/month

Try speaking with a local credit union. Some offer free credit counseling and help you budget and plan without charging insane fees. Guardian CU helped me a ton.

Shoutout to TrueCredit Repair off Atlanta Hwy. Super transparent, family-owned, didn’t charge upfront. My reports had some ID theft stuff they helped clear.

DIY is the way to go. These companies capitalize on desperation. Everything they file, U can file. Save the $99/month and get a secured card instead.

Get a copy of your credit reports from AnnualCreditReport.com. Look for errors, outdated info, or duplicate collections. Dispute those first before hiring anyone.

Agree with you to a point but i was getting nowhere disputing on my own. Got results faster with a pro even if i paid. Not everyone has the time or know-how.

I used a local lady named Carol’s Credit Coaching. Not a big company....just her. But she treated me like a person, not a paycheck. Took about 6 months but now I’m at 702!
