How do I find a person by name if it’s been years since we last talked?

I’m trying to reconnect with someone I used to know pretty well but we lost contact around 7–8 years ago. All I have now is their full name, the state they lived in back then and some vague memory of where they worked. No current number, no social media that I can find and nothing obvious on google.

I’ve been looking into people search sites but most of them either want a subscription or feel kind of sketchy. Before I go down that road, I wanted to ask, are any of these sites actually reliable? Has anyone here had success using them when you only have a name and maybe a location from years ago?

Try TruePeopleSearch or FastPeopleSearch first. Totally free and surprisingly accurate if you have a full name and a rough location.

If you remember where they worked try running their name through linkedIn even if they don’t use it sometimes old entries are cached.

I’ve used whitepages free tier to confirm someone’s city and age range. Not super detailed, but good for checking if someone’s still in the same state.

I used Pipl years ago but it’s mostly professional tools now. For casual searches, beenverified and peoplefinders have better interfaces.

Even if social media profiles are locked down, people get tagged in photos by friends. Try reverse searching their name on facebook with mutual contacts.

If you’re not getting results on search engines try PeekYou. It sometimes shows older links or usernames that don’t appear on google
