Just Hit the 800 Club—Who Else Is Here?

I finally made it into the 800 credit score club currently sitting at 804, so just barely snuck in! I'm 26 now, and I started building credit at 18 with my first card, so it's been a steady journey over the past 8 years.

I’m curious—who else is in the 800+ range?
  • How long did it take you to get there?
  • Was it tough maintaining it once you crossed that line?
Here’s my current credit card setup for anyone wondering:
  • Amex Platinum
  • Amex Gold
  • Amex EveryDay Preferred
  • Bilt Mastercard
  • Amazon Prime Visa
  • Apple Card
Would love to hear what your timeline looked like and any tips for staying above 800!

Congrats! I hit 803 last month at 31. Honestly the biggest game changer for me was keeping my utilization under 5% and setting up autopay on everything. Never missed a payment and i always ask for credit limit increases every 6 months. Cheers to the 800 club

Damn, flexing with all them Amex cards i got in with just a Discover It and Chase Freedom Unlimited lmao. Hit 802 last year at 29. Took 10 years of religious on time payments and one CLI every birthday but it works!

Joined the 800+ gang at 34 after paying off my student loans and finally ditching my last car payment. Currently at 811 and coasting. Honestly the hardest part is not opening new cards just for the sign up bonuses lol. It’s a trap!

Still at 798 and mad about it. I breathe the right way, pay off everything early and still can’t hit that magic number probably because i have a short credit history..only 6 years. It’ll get there... eventually... maybe...

Honestly props to you. I’m 27 and stuck at 772. My biggest mistake was co signing a loan for an ex. She defaulted and I paid for it literally and metaphorically. Took years to recover.

I’ve been chilling at 835 for about 3 years now. Biggest tips: never close your old cards, ask for CLIs regularly and don’t go wild on store cards. Looking at you, Target RedCard

You know what helped me the most? Becoming an authorized user on my mom’s 20-year-old credit card. Instant age boost. My actual credit habits are mid, but her history lifted me to 808

I feel like the real MVPs are the folks hovering in the high 700s who could be in the 800s but keep getting hard pulls from chasing those sweet, sweet SUBs Respect.

Respect for doing it by 26! Took me until 35 to break 800 because I was reckless with my early 20s cards. Never realized how damaging a 30-day late mark could be until I lived it.

Currently at 848 and it’s honestly kind of a joke now. I use like 1% of my limit, pay off in full and have cards older than my marriage. It becomes autopilot after a while.

Your setup is good but how do you track everything? I get nervous juggling more than 3 cards. Would love tips on managing due dates and benefits across that many accounts!

How does the Apple Card play into your score? I’ve heard mixed things because of the way it reports (or doesn’t) to credit bureaus. Would love to hear your experience!

Just barely broke into 802 territory at 28! It actually dipped a few times when I took out an auto loan and then rebounded after 6 months of payments. Stay the course folks.

I made the 800 club by accident. Didn’t even know what credit utilization was until I hit 798 and Googled how to break into the next tier. Turns out I’d been doing everything right by just... being broke but responsible

I’m more impressed you’ve managed to avoid burning out on credit tracking. I did spreadsheets for 2 years and gave up. Switched to autopay and Zen. Somehow that worked better

This thread is giving me life. So many responsible people out here with 800+ while I’m over here celebrating hitting 720 like i just won the lottery Still progress is progress!

Made it to 805 last year after 15 years of history. Not gonna lie having a mortgage helped a ton. That installment credit mix seems to give a little boost once everything else is solid.

That is an elite lineup of Amex cards! I’m at 810 and similar setup. My secret weapon was rotating 0% APR cards to pay off a big balance without interest then aggressively paying it down. No regrets.
