Noticed Credit Service Company Inc on My Credit File

Just wanted to ask if anyone here has dealt with Credit Service Company Inc recently. I came across their name while reviewing some items on my credit report and noticed they might be listed as a debt collector. I’m trying to figure out if they're legit and what to expect when dealing with them.

A few questions I’m hoping someone can shed some light on:
  • Are they easy to work with when it comes to resolving issues?
  • Do they offer payment plans or negotiate settlements?
  • Has anyone had success getting things removed from their report after payment or dispute?
  • And just overall, how professional and transparent are they?
Really trying to stay on top of my credit this year and avoid any unnecessary stress or surprises. Would appreciate any firsthand experiences or tips before I reach out to them directly.

Yeah i dealt with them last year. They are a legit debt collection agency. I had a medical debt sent to them. They were okay to deal with definitely not the worst I’ve experienced. I called them,= and they did offer a payment plan without any major hassle.

I totally get where you’re coming from. I found them on my report last year and panicked because I]i had no clue who they were. Turned out to be an old utility bill. They were professional,] but slow on communication. Be persistent if you want results.

Hmm professional is a stretch. They’re not the sketchiest collector i’ve encountered but also not super forthcoming. Make sure you get everything in writing. I tried negotiating a settlement and they agreed, but took forever to update my credit file.

I paid off a small debt with them and asked for a pay-for-delete. They said they’d report it as paid which they did. Didn’t remove it though. From what i hear they’re not big on deleting stuff unless you catch a rep on a good day.

They called me like five times in one week. I thought it was my ex trying to get closure. Nope.......just Credit Service Company Inc reminding me i once owed $64 for an ambulance ride.

Good on you for staying on top of your credit! I didn’t even know I had anything in collections until a mortgage lender told me. These guys were on there. I disputed and it was legit, but they let me settle for 60%. Worth a shot to negotiate.

Make sure you validate the debt before paying. Send a debt validation letter (Google has templates). If they can’t prove the debt they legally can’t collect. Credit Service Company Inc responded with docs in my case, but not super fast.

Definitely don’t ignore them. I’ve seen a couple friends let stuff like this slide and it wrecked their credit for years. Even if you think it’s not legit it’s better to reach out and get it sorted. Usually easier than you'd think.

They’ve been around since the 80s, i think. Based out of Colorado but collect nationwide. Focus mostly on medical and utility collections. Better Business Bureau has them listed as legit for what it’s worth.

If you’re planning to settle do not make a payment until they send an agreement in writing. No verbal confirmation”crap. Some collectors play dirty, though i didn’t find them to be super aggressive.

I negotiated a 40% settlement on a $900 bill. They didn’t delete it from my report but did mark it as paid. I followed up with a goodwill letter and boom.....3 months later it was removed. Worth trying!

Credit Service Company Inc sounds like a fake agency Dwight Schrute would make up to test loyalty. But yeah they’re real. And not the worst.

I used Credit Karma to track updates after paying them. Took about 6 weeks to show up as paid on my TransUnion report. Still waiting on Experian... sigh.

Depending on your state, they can’t collect on debts older than a certain time statute of limitations. Mine was past the SOL so I sent a cease collection letter. Never heard from them again.

Can anyone actually confirm they do deletions? So far i’ve only heard of paid not deleted. Seems like pay-for-delete isn’t their thing, which sucks.

Honestly felt like crap seeing a collection. I’ve worked hard on my credit and seeing their name was a gut punch. But dealing with them wasn’t terrible. One call, one payment, done.

Mine got deleted! I paid in full then sent a goodwill letter explaining my situation job loss, health stuff. Took a couple tries but it worked. Try snail mail it stands out more.

Just call .....worst case scenario, you get info. Best case, you settle or dispute and improve your score. I wasted months stressing when a simple call solved everything in 10 minutes.
