Starting a Credit Repair Challenge – Who’s With Me?

So I’ve finally decided to stop putting it off and actually work on fixing my credit for real this time. Figured it might be more fun (and way more motivating) if I turned it into a credit repair challenge and opened it up to anyone else trying to get their score up. This isn’t some fancy program or anything just a personal challenge to clean things up and build better habits over the next month or two. Stuff like checking credit reports, disputing errors, knocking down balances, and setting up auto-pay so I stop forgetting things 😅

Whether your credit's in rough shape or you're just trying to squeeze out a few more points, you’re welcome to jump in. We can share wins, vent about the annoying stuff, swap tips all that good stuff.

Count me in! i’ve been dodging my credit problems for years, but I finally pulled all three reports last week. TransUnion was... kinder than i expected, Equifax was a mess. Already disputed two collections that aren’t even mine (thanks, Evil Twin?). Planning to use the snowball method on my cards smallest to biggest. Happy to share a weekly progress update if we’re doing this as a group?

I started last month and i’m already up 42 points just from paying my balances down under 30%. It’s wild how something so simple makes such a big difference. My tip: set up auto-pay for minimums at least. That alone saved me from like five oops I forgot dings. Subscribed to this thread. Let’s get that 700 club, baby.

Honestly… i don’t know where to start. My score is trash (like, in the 400s trash). It’s from years of ignoring things because it felt hopeless. But lately I’ve been watching videos and reading posts like this and realizing: it’s not magic. It’s just habits. So yeah i’m terrified but i’m in. I guess first thing is pulling my reports and facing the music

Came here for tips and found a whole squad........Love the energy. I’m mostly trying to bump my 690 to over 720 so i can refinance my car at a better rate. Anyone else doing this for a specific goal? House? Apartment? Just vibes?
i’ve heard a secured card with a low utilization rate helps a lot but i’m not sure if it’s worth it at this stage.

I’ve got a Google Sheet tracking every single debt, credit limit, and due date. It’s color-coded and everything. 😂If anyone wants a template, let me know. Having the numbers in front of me helped kill that head in the sand mentality. Also if you're disputing errors, do it via mail! Online disputes limit your options big time.

I had perfect credit until the divorce… now i’m rebuilding from the mid-500s. The hardest part has been letting go of the shame. Like, mistakes happen. Life happens. But we’re not stuck unless we stop trying. My big win last week: negotiated a paid-in-full deletion on a $900 charge-off.... Victory tastes SWEET.

Not to rain on anyone’s parade but… is all this even worth it? i’ve been making payments, disputing stuff, staying under 10% utilization and my score went down 6 points?? The system feels rigged sometimes. Just saying. But i guess i’ll keep doing it because renting without good credit is a nightmare.

Y’all ever forget to pay a bill by 3 days and suddenly your credit drops 70 points?? Happened to me last month and i almost threw my phone. Setting up autopay across the board now. If this challenge gets me to stop living in financial chaos, I owe y’all a drink.

I’m in the same boat started tracking every single expense with YNAB and stopped buying stuff i don’t need. My credit card balances are finally going down and i’m actually feeling… hopeful?? Never thought i’d say that about finances. Here for the accountability!

Just sent off 6 dispute letters last week....typed, mailed with certified delivery, and ALL CAPS where needed . Already got one deleted from report email today. I felt like a hacker. Highly recommend writing your own letters instead of using those shady credit repair services.

Been coaching friends through credit repair for years. Biggest game changers?

Pay down revolving balances

Don’t close old cards

Dispute legit inaccuracies

Avoid new inquiries unless needed
This thread is a vibe. Happy to answer Qs if anyone’s stuck.

My goal is to go from 612 → 680 in the next 90 days. Think it’s doable? i’ve got two credit cards with high balances, a couple late payments from last year, and one small collection from a hospital bill i didn’t know about. Any advice on tackling those lates?

Credit repair challenge? Sounds better than my gym challenge that lasted 6 days.....count me in. I’m tired of being afraid to check my score. Also anyone using Self or Kikoff? Wondering if they actually help or just look like fluff to the bureaus.

My anxiety’s so bad i legit have to hype myself up just to log into my bank account. But i’m proud to say i finally paid off one card this month (only $312 but still!). It’s the little wins that matter. I’ll be here cheering everyone on even when i'm too broke to participate

Anyone else obsessively refresh their Experian app hoping for a miracle score jump? Just me? Cool. I swear fixing credit is the adult version of leveling up in a video game. It’s like grinding XP but you have to wait 30 days to see your stats update.

I started at 488 two years ago. Today i’m sitting at 709. No credit repair companies, just YouTube, Reddit, and relentless spreadsheeting. If i can do it, anyone can. Just start. Don’t wait till it’s the right time. There won’t be one.

Paid off my last collection this week and finally feel like I’m breathing again. I know paying collections doesn’t always help your score but i wanted the peace of mind. Felt like closing a chapter. Onward and upward, folks!
