Tried a 24-Hour Credit Sweep? Is It Legit?

I came across a few ads recently promoting something called a "24-hour credit sweep" basically, a service that claims it can wipe negative items off your credit report almost instantly. The idea sounds a little too good to be true, and I wanted to see if anyone here has actually done it or knows how it really works.

From what I understand, these companies offer to remove collections, charge-offs, late payments, etc., sometimes within 24 to 72 hours. But I’ve also read mixed things online some people say it’s a scam, others say it worked for them, but only temporarily.

A few questions I have:
  • Is a 24-hour credit sweep legal?
  • Does it actually work long term or do the items come back?
  • Could it hurt your credit or get you flagged by the bureaus?
  • Has anyone here tried it and had success (or regrets)?

I work in credit repair and i’ll tell you this....any company promising to remove accurate negative info in 24 hours is probably using shady tactics. These often involve disputing everything at once, hoping it gets temporarily removed before verification. It’s a loophole not a fix.

Tried it once out of desperation. Stuff did disappear... for about a week. Then BAM back like a bad ex. I paid $700 for that sweep. Lesson learned no shortcuts when it comes to credit repair.

Feels scammy. Like if you could just erase your financial history in 24 hours wouldn’t everyone be doing it? Pretty sure the credit bureaus are on to this by now.

A lot of these services hinge on exploiting a temporary gap in verification responses under the FCRA. The legality is murky not necessarily illegal but not ethical either. Bureaus catch on eventually.

Bro i legit tried this last year before buying a car. My score shot up 80 points for like three days. Then it dropped 120. Dealer was like what happened?? Total clown show.

Some use identity theft victim processes to force expedited deletion. That’s fraud unless you’re actually a victim. Do not do this unless you want federal problems.

I went the long route.....debt snowball, goodwill letters, etc. Took a year but the results stuck. Sweeps? Sounds like painting over mold instead of fixing the leak.

My cousin tried one. The company just sent mass disputes to all three bureaus. Some stuff fell off but came back quick. And now he’s being investigated for impersonation.....yikes.

I emailed one of those sweep services for info. They wouldn’t explain how it works until I paid. If you can’t explain your service upfront, i’m out.

Reminds me of that old CPN scam wave. People trying to start new credit profiles like it’s GTA or something.....that’s illegal. Don’t do federal time over a Best Buy card.

It's appealing because we're all tired of waiting years to fix one late payment. But man... shortcuts tend to backfire. Especially when Equifax slaps you back to reality.

Used one in 2020. Was young and dumb. Ended up getting a fraud alert put on my report because they used some kind of unauthorized police report form. Took months to clean up that mess.

They’re often based on temporary deletions via electronic disputes. If a creditor doesn’t respond fast enough, the item is removed... but can reappear after reinvestigation. Not a true fix.

I run a legit credit counseling biz. We’ve seen people come to us after sweeps went wrong. Usually they’re left worse off...frozen reports, fraud flags, and zero trust from lenders.

The FCRA gives you the right to dispute inaccurate info. That’s solid but disputing everything even accurate stuff, is abuse of that system. And that can come back to bite you.

It's almost always temp success followed by long-term pain. And when the bureaus catch on you can get locked out of your own report for weeks. Happened to me.

I feel like if something can remove stuff instantly it can probably come back just as fast. Like those Instagram filters. Looks good for a second but ain’t real.

It’s tempting when you’re desperate. I was facing eviction and tried a sweep. It didn’t work, cost $600 and my landlord still saw the evictions in public records. Wish i would saved the money for rent.
